After months of speculations and rumors, Apple has announced its newest iPhone, the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5 features a taller 4-inch retina display with 1136 x 640 resolution and 326ppi and is powered by an A6 processor which is twice as fast as its predecessor. The main camera is an 8-megapixels shooter with a backside illumination, five-element lens and f/2.4 aperture covered with sapphire crystal, its 25 percent smaller than the iPhone 4S camera, yet it can snap pictures 40 percent faster. In addition to the new iSight camera the iPhone 5 features a new 720p FaceTime front-facing camera.
The new iPhone will also offer LTE and will be available from Sprint, Verizon and AT&T in the U.S., Bell, Telus and Rogers in Canada, Deutsche Telekom, Everything Everywhere (T-Mobile and Orange) in Europe, Optus and Telstra in Australia and other carriers around the world.
Apple says that the iPhone 5’s battery life is improved over that of the iPhone 4S and features: 225 hours of standby time, eight hours of 3G or LTE talk time or browsing and 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing.
The iPhone 5 will be available in black and white and will cost the same as the iPhone 4S did when debuted, $199 for the 16GB version, $299 for a 32GB and $399 for the 64GB model.
Pre-orders will start on Friday 14th and will start shipping on September 21st in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore with 20 more countries following next month.
